The furniture of a house
is something that is to be kept up-to-date every time to maintain its
lavish appearance. The furniture keeps on losing its grace and shine
with the passing time and therefore they are required to be given a
new boost using some or the other ways. There are a number of options
to choose from while giving the furniture a fresh look that helps in
brightening up the home decor. One of my favourite methods to give a
new life to your house furniture is to repaint it. But the only
condition is that the furniture is in good condition.
It is said to be a lifelong investment because of the durability and sustainability of the plantation shutters. Thus, they can be given a new
appearance by just changing the colour scheme of all the shutters of
your house. Here is how you can paint yours:
Step 1: Prepare your
shutters
- Remove all the shutters of your house but make sure you label them so that you can easily identify what window and what side of the window they go to. This is a great way to reinstall your plantation shutters correctly after they are given new colours.
- Sand the shutters with fine sandpaper so that the existing colour is removed or lighten up. Make sure that you clean the shutters properly so that they do not have sand dust over them anymore.
- Hang your shutters using temporary knobs so that it becomes easy for you to paint them freely.
Step 2: Paint plantation shutters
- First prime your home shutters so that the paint can stay and last longer.
- To give a good finish to your shutters, consider using spray-painting. While using spray paint, make sure that you spray in only one direction for a smooth and clear finish.
- Always start painting your shutters only after the primer is completely dry.
- First, open the louvers at 45-degree angle and spray, and spray again in 45-degree angle but in the opposite direction. After doing this open the louvers fully, and spray in only one vertical direction, to give them a finished touch.
- Repeat the above step for the other side and the tilt rod as well.
Make sure that you give
the paint an ample time to get dry before you re-install the shutters
in their place. Your freshly painted plantation shutters will add an alluring beauty to your house in East Sussex.
